Privacy Policy
Last updated 7 October 2026.
1. Who we are
Limber is a brand of Limber Autocare Limited, company number 9382279, NZBN 9429053226570, a New Zealand company at Level 6, Building A, 167 Victoria Street West, Auckland ("Limber", "we", "us").
We are responsible for the personal information we collect and hold about you, and we handle it in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. Our Privacy Officer can be reached at hi@limber.co.nz.
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to personal information we collect through the Limber website, when you ask us for a price, when you become a member, and while we run your plan. It sits alongside your Membership, Product and Layby Agreement. Where that agreement says something specific about how we use your information, it applies as well as this policy, not instead of it.
3. What we collect
Information you give us. Your name and contact details. Your address, which we use to find mechanics near you and to post things to you. Your vehicle details. The details of anyone else on your plan, including drivers. Your bank account details and the payment authority you give us. The content of your enquiries, emails, texts and calls with us.
Information about your vehicle. When you give us a registration plate, we enrich what you have told us with information from one or more vehicle data providers, who draw on NZTA and other records. That includes the make and model, warrant of fitness and licence expiry dates, road user charge status and distance readings, and the last odometer reading on record. We do this when you sign up, and from time to time while your plan is running, so that your dates and amounts stay accurate.
Information about your payments. Your payment history, including successful and failed collections, and information from our bank about those collections.
Recordings of some calls. Where we take a payment authority or a plan change over the phone, the call is recorded, and we tell you at the time. The recording is the record of what you authorised.
Information about your use of this website. We use analytics and advertising tools, currently Google Analytics and the Meta pixel. They collect information about your device, your approximate location, the pages you visit and what you do on them, and they set cookies in your browser. Section 11 explains how to limit them.
We do not run credit checks.
4. Why we collect it
We collect and use this information to:
- give you a price and show you what your plan would cost
- set up and run your plan, and keep your targets and dates accurate
- find mechanics near you, and post things to you where a product needs it
- collect your payments, and manage missed payments and catch-up arrangements
- renew your vehicle licence and buy road user charges with NZTA as your agent
- issue vouchers and arrange work with the provider you have chosen
- arrange and maintain your roadside assistance cover
- keep you up to date about your plan and your payments
- answer your enquiries and handle complaints
- keep proper records, meet our legal obligations, and detect and prevent fraud
- understand how people use our website, and improve it
If you do not give us the information we ask for, we may not be able to give you a price or run a plan for you.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only where we need to, and only with:
- the providers who do the work, including the garage or inspection site you have chosen, so they can honour your voucher
- NZTA, when we renew your vehicle licence or buy road user charges for you
- our roadside assistance provider, to arrange and maintain your cover
- our vehicle data providers, when we look up or refresh a vehicle
- our bank and our payment processing providers, to collect your payments
- the companies that run our systems, including our hosting, database, email and text messaging providers, and the business tools we use to run the operation
- our analytics and advertising providers, as described in sections 3 and 11
- our professional advisers, such as our accountants and lawyers
- a debt collection agency, if an amount you owe us remains unpaid
- anyone else you ask us to share it with, or where the law requires or allows it
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Where your information is held
Our main system is hosted in New Zealand, on Amazon Web Services infrastructure located here.
Some of the tools we use to run the business, and the analytics providers named in section 3, store information on servers outside New Zealand. Before we send personal information to a provider overseas, we satisfy ourselves that it is subject to safeguards comparable to those in the Privacy Act 2020, as the Act requires.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you are a member, and afterwards for as long as we need it. Records of your agreement, your payment authority and your payments are kept for at least seven years, because we are required to keep proper business records. We delete or anonymise information we no longer need.
8. How we keep it safe
We use access controls, encryption in transit, and staff training to protect your information. Bank account details are masked in our systems once saved, and card numbers are never entered into them.
No system is perfectly secure. If a privacy breach happens and it is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, as the Privacy Act requires.
9. Seeing and correcting your information
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct anything that is wrong. In practice that is usually something like a misspelled name, an address after you move, a phone number, a plate or distance figure recorded incorrectly, or a note on your file that is not right.
Email hi@limber.co.nz. We will respond within 20 working days. There is no charge, although we may charge for a request that is unusually large, and we will tell you before we do.
If we decline to correct something, you can ask us to attach a statement of the correction you sought, and we will.
10. Marketing messages
If we send you marketing messages, every one of them will have an unsubscribe option, and we will honour it. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop the messages we have to send you about your plan, such as payment notices and statements, because those are part of the service you have asked for.
11. Cookies and tracking
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use them to make the site work and to understand how it is used. The tools we currently use are:
Google Analytics, which tells us how people find and move through the site so we can improve it. You can opt out across all sites using Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
The Meta pixel, which tells us whether an ad we have run led someone to the site, and lets us show ads to people who have visited. You can control how Meta uses your activity through the ad settings in your Facebook or Instagram account.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Parts of the site may not work properly if you do.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated. If we make a change that materially affects how we handle your information, we will tell you.
13. Contact us and complaints
Email hi@limber.co.nz, or write to Limber Autocare Limited, Level 6, Building A, 167 Victoria Street West, Auckland 1010.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your personal information, tell us first and we will try to put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or 0800 803 909.
